AstroTurf Europe is delivering the turf for the installation of two five-a-side soccer pitches at Syrian refugee camps in Jordan. The first pitch will be installed at the Zaatari refugee camp, the second pitch at the Azraq refugee camp. Both pitches are commissioned by the UEFA Foundation For Children and will be installed by Mondo Construction Company.

The Zaatari refugee camp, located 10 kilometers east of Mafraq, was first opened on 28 July 2012 to host Syrians fleeing the violence in the ongoing Syrian Civil War. Currently the population is estimated around 80,000 refugees. The Azraq refugee camp has a population of 33.000 refugees. Both Zaatari and Azraq are developed and operated by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

AstroTurf is proud to be able to give the refugees the ability to sport on a proper surface. Though the circumstances are very hard, we hope the people are able to forget their problems for a while and enjoy the fun of sports on these pitches.
