A star shines once more

AstroTurf Europe was contracted to refurbish the storied home ground of MVV Maastricht, Stadion De Geusselt, in the southern end of the Netherlands. Known as the Star Wearers, the team is one of the country’s oldest football clubs, with a proud tradition dating back to 1902.

Time was of the essence, with a mere two weeks from start to finish available to AstroTurf Europe and its team of trusted subcontractors for the refurbishment. Re-Match removed and recycled the old surface, using a patented process based on the mechanical separation of the synthetic turf. Components are then cleaned to a level of purity where the sand, rubber, backing and fibre can effectively be used in new production cycles. Repairs to the existing sub-base where then undertaken by TopGrass.

With these key tasks completed, the new AstroTurf Soccer XI League Max 18-4-60 was laid by O&C. Without further ado and to deadline, the project was delivered and the pitch handed over to the club on August 21st.

The FIFA Quality Pro-certified surface features four-sided diamond yarn and polymer composition, which offer the kind of durability and resilience needed by the second-division club to both train and play on the ground.

AstroTurf is all about giving the players what they need and want to perform at their best. MVV Maastricht will christen the emerald-green pitch with its first home match on September 5th, against SC Cambuur. There’s no doubt that MVV Maastricht has its work cut out against the tough opponents, but with home ground momentum and a new pitch, we know the team will find a way to shine like a star.
